As spring approaches, many families begin thinking
about camp! From soccer camps to art camps, the possibilities are
endless for kids hoping to sharpen or develop their skills. But for
many children in the Pacific Northwest, going to camp could mean
so much more than sparking an interest in a new hobby, it could re-ignite
a precious relationship among brothers and sisters.
“Camp To Belong” (CBT) reunites siblings
who have been abused and/or neglected and are no longer living together
as they work their way through the foster care system. 75 percent
of children nationwide who are removed from their abusive homes are
separated, making an already traumatic and heartbreaking event in
their lives even worse.
“Camp To Belong” is now coming to the
Northwest in June of 2006 and we are we are looking forward to welcoming
up to 100 youth in foster care to camp this summer. For most of these
children, this will be the first time they will see their brothers
and sisters since being removed from their homes.
We cannot erase the tragedy of being removed from
their homes, but for one precious week, we can keep these siblings
from being removed from each other.
Help get the word out on “Camp To Belong” because
brothers and sisters belong together.
